Description

CyberWave Studios 1.1.1 is a personal site and small creative-studio portfolio with a working PHP and MySQL CMS. The public site sits inside a classic Internet Explorer-style window: purple star wallpaper, metallic banner, 3D-style navigation, guestbook, badges, web ring, and a green visitor counter. Admin and login use the same retro artwork. This release repairs that application. It does not add a framework, a build step, a service account, or an outside API.

WHAT YOU GET

– Home, About, Gallery, Services, Links, Contact, Guestbook, and other editable pages.

– Site search across published pages, services, gallery titles and captions, and links.

– Browser-style controls: address navigation, Back and Forward, Stop and Refresh, printing, menus, close and minimize that can be reversed, and maximize and restore.

– Favorites stored in the current browser, and recent history for the current tab. Visitors do not need an account.

– A moderated guestbook. Visitor email addresses stay private. Twenty entries show per page.

– A contact form that saves messages in the admin Inbox. Reply opens your own email program.

– A web ring directory with previous, next, random, and a path for membership requests. Sample members stay inactive until you replace them with real destinations.

– CMS controls for the homepage and banner, news, services, images, pages, links, badges, guestbook moderation, inbox, navigation, settings, the counter, statistics, and admin accounts.

– Owner, admin, editor, and read-only demo roles. Only an owner manages user accounts. Editors handle content and guestbook moderation. System settings, navigation, the counter, and the inbox need an admin or an owner. A demo account can look around except user management, and cannot save or delete.

– CSRF protection, password hashing, database-backed request limits, checks on raster image uploads, and private directories blocked on Apache by the included .htaccess files.

– Starter content you can edit: original hero and gallery placeholders, 2001-dated news, sample guestbook entries, and a retro copyright line. Real links are included for the fresh-install Links directory. The supplied project had no original gallery artwork.

KEY DETAILS

– PHP 8.0 or later with pdo_mysql, mbstring, dom, and fileinfo.

– A new empty MySQL or MariaDB database and a user who can create and use its tables. The installer will not overwrite existing tables.

– Apache 2.4 with mod_rewrite and .htaccess overrides is the tested host. Other servers need equivalent rules and were not tested for this release.

– Checked with PHP 8.5.4, MySQL 8.4.11, and Apache 2.4.66. MariaDB and Windows with XAMPP were not run for this revamp. start.sh and start.bat are for local preview, not for a public host.

– Upload the contents of cyberwave-studios-v1.1.1/ so index.php, admin/, assets/, and install/ sit in the site folder. Hidden .htaccess files must go with them. A domain root or a subdirectory both work.

– Open /install/, create an owner password of at least 12 characters, then delete the install/ directory and sign in at /admin/.

– app/ and assets/uploads/ must be writable by PHP. Do not use world-writable 777 permissions.

WHAT THIS IS NOT

– Not an automatic emailer. The contact form only stores an inbox message. You reply from your own mail program.

– Not a live web ring. Sample ring members do nothing until you enter real URLs.

– Not a shopping cart, booking system, or membership platform.

– Not a WordPress theme. It is its own PHP application and needs its own empty database.

– Not a guarantee for Nginx, MariaDB, or XAMPP. Those were outside this release's test pass. An upgrade path from v1.0 is documented separately. Do not point the fresh installer at an existing site's tables.
